Hate WordPress? Here are 13 Alternatives

Come on… Why would you hate WordPress? If you’re an online entrepreneur, using WordPress is the cheapest and the best way of creating a website. Period. You can register a domain, get a hosting account, install WordPress, and get a custom theme, all in less than 10 minutes (if you’re quick).

Anyway, I’m not here to preach WordPress, so if for whatever reason you want something else then there are some alternatives. Check out my guest post at Blogging Labs to get a list of 13 great content management systems that are somewhat similar to WordPress:

Hold on, let me share two more pieces of advice:

1. If you decide to hire a web designer instead of buying a custom theme then be careful. Cheap web design is not always worth it.

2. No matter what platform you’re using there are still some things to be done after launching your website. Here’re some ideas: what to do after launching a website.

I did wonder when I read your title what you could possibly hate about WordPress. :) That being said, there are some great alternatives on the market, Joomla and Drupal seeming to be the most well known, for me though, WordPress will always be my first choice.

I like Joomla too. But my main opinion is the same – WordPress is the leader. :)

    well…let’s see…

    1. the learning curve starts more flat but is as steep if you really want to win with google

    2. you do not know who gets access to your revenues etc with all these free (cui bono?) plugins, which are all written for the sake of mankind

    3. you may one day end up to be like every other website in google’s eyes – like many wordpress blogs are just adsense/affiliate schemes … yours technically will look similar

    4. did you ever try to put two images next to each other …

Valid points you have, thanks for sharing. WordPress doesn’t have to work for everyone, but in most cases, it does quite a good job. :)

There are a lot of things that I both like and dislike about Wordpress. I wrote a blog post a little bit ago, and I figured it might be able to help someone: http://blog.mathesondigital.com/love-hate-relationship-wordpress/
